The program "Operation and engineering of nuclear power plants" in the framework of the magistracy 13.04.01 "Thermal power and heat engineering" is focused on training foreign students at the Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU).
The relevance of the opened program is associated with the dynamic promotion of Russian nuclear energy technologies to the foreign market and the resulting need to train a large number of highly qualified personnel for Russian power units abroad.
The educational program provides for in-depth practice-oriented training of specialists for operational, engineering and design activities in the nuclear power industry, taking into account the most advanced knowledge in the field of the operation of nuclear power plants, the achievements of science and technology in the aspects of ensuring the safety and sustainable development of the world community.
The master's program is developed on the basis of the Federal State Educational Standard of the direction 13.04.01 "Heat Power Engineering and Heat Engineering" according to the criteria of the Association for Engineering Education of Russia (AEER) and taking into account the requirements of the international standards EUR-ACE and FEANI.
The program is being developed at REC I.N. Butakov School of Power Engineering of the Tomsk Polytechnic University by teachers with vast experience in training specialists in the program accredited by the Association for Engineering Education of Russia 14.05.02 "Nuclear Plants: Design, Operation and Engineering", which was awarded the European quality mark EUR-ACE, including in English.
It provides for the use of active learning methods (including PBL) and the development of an integrated approach to learning that promotes the development of disciplinary knowledge while developing personal and interpersonal skills.
To increase the efficiency of the program, the level of competence of the graduates of the program and the status of the TPU diploma, it is planned to develop a set of online courses on the Moodle 3.3 platform for the disciplines of the program. Teachers have developed more than 45 electronic online courses in various disciplines. Young associate professors who are fluent in English are ready to participate in the formation of the program, including with the use of digital educational technologies. In the structure of the educational program for the preparation of masters in the program "Operation and engineering of nuclear power plants / Operation and engineering of nuclear power plants", in addition to disciplines, it is assumed a significant amount of research work on topics related to the issues of reliable, safe and economical operation of nuclear power plants.
An important advantage of the program is the fact that it includes disciplines that cover the entire life cycle of heat and electricity production processes, taking into account the specifics of a nuclear power plant.
Graduates of the program will have competencies in the field of operation, maintenance and repair of the main and auxiliary thermal and mechanical equipment of nuclear power plants, the main processes and principles of its design, the specifics of scientific research, the implementation of high-tech design work, modeling and operation of energy technology complexes using digital technologies that ensure safe and competitive development of the nuclear industry that meets modern needs.
