Automation of Technological Processes and Operations in Mechanical Engineering

The program trains masters who are able to conduct research for the creation of new technologies for the manufacture of parts for various purposes, the use of modern production processes and technologies, methods of computer-aided design, mathematical, physical and computer modeling.

Specialists are in high demand at machine-building enterprises with a high production culture in Russia and abroad.

 Knowledge, skills and abilities

You will learn to:

  • apply modern research methods, evaluate and present the results of the work performed;
  • develop technical specifications for the design and manufacture of machines, drives, equipment, systems and non-standard and technological equipment, select equipment and accessories;
  • develop production norms and technological standards for the consumption of materials, templates, fuel and electricity in mechanical engineering;
  • evaluate the technical and economic efficiency of the design, research, manufacture of machines, drives, equipment, systems, technological processes, take part in development of quality management systems at the enterprise;
  • describe principles of operation and design of products with the justification of technical decisions made.

What else you need to know

 Students gain knowledge and skills both from specialists with academic degrees and from practitioners who address real production challenges:

  • During the study, modern machining, control and measuring equipment is used;
  • You will learn how to develop and implement modern technologies for manufacturing parts using automated CNC systems and perform complex engineering calculations in SAE systems;
  • Our graduates work as leading technologists and designers at Tomsk enterprises and in other Russian companies;
  • Our student from China, Lao Guanqing, became a researcher at the Technical Center for Space Applications in the Beijing Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Technology and Engineering Center for Space Utilization, Chinese Academy of Science).

 

Machines and Technologies in Welding

Our graduates master modern technologies of welding production at a high level, the latest methods of processing and obtaining materials used in mechanical engineering, as well as in the oil and gas, mining, chemical, nuclear and other industries.

The partners of the program are large Tomsk and Russian industrial enterprises, which guarantees employment for undergraduates. The number of requests from potential employers consistently exceeds the number of graduates of the program.

You will learn to:

  • develop and apply optimal product manufacturing technologies;
  • implement standardization and certification of products and technological processes;
  • use information technologies in the development of new mechanical engineering products;
  • perform diagnostics of equipment, technological processes, using modern methods and analysis tools;
  • organize the team work and make executive decisions.

Space Materials Science Technologies 

The program trains specialists of technologies for processing special alloys and materials, designing parts and assemblies for spacecraft, their diagnostics and non-destructive testing.

Competencies in space materials science technologies allow graduates to work as technologists and designers of parts and assemblies made of modern materials for the space industry.

 Knowledge, skills and abilities

You will learn to:

  • manage projects at all stages of their life cycle, use modern devices and techniques, conduct experiments and tests and analyze their results;
  • formulate the goals and objectives of research in the field of design and technological training of machine-building industries;
  • participate in the development of engineering products and production cycle projects taking into account technological, design, operational, aesthetic, economic and managerial parameters;
  • conduct scientific experiments, evaluate research results, perform mathematical modeling of processes, tools and systems of machine-building industries;
  • describe operational principles of the designed processes, devices, to develop their draft, technical and working projects, to carry out technical estimations on the projects.

High Tech Physics in Mechanical Engineering

The program provides basic knowledge and competencies related to digital technologies for the design, construction and production of complex high-tech engineering objects using unique categories of materials and structures.

 Knowledge, skills and abilities

You will learn to:

  • understand the physical, chemical and technological basics of obtaining and processing new-generation materials;
  • analyze and summarize information in engineering and technology of machine-building industries, high-tech procedures of processing and obtaining new materials and products from them;
  • take part in fundamental and applied research on the creation of technological equipment and automation, technologies, in experimental design developments;
  • solve vaguely defined engineering tasks in introducing the latest technologies in production;
  • plan and conduct research, evaluate the obtained theoretical and experimental data, use the basics of invention, legal knowledge in the field of intellectual property;
  • integrate knowledge of obtaining and processing materials and address challenges that require abstract thinking and original analysis.
