Mobile radiotherapy complex developed by TPU and Reshetnev ISS Company

Specialists of M.F. Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems Company (part of  the State Space Corporation Roscosmos) are developing a pre-production sample of a mobile radiotherapy complex. This is a unique medical equipment based on a betatron. Tomsk Polytechnic University is a partner of the project.

Information about this is published on the Roscosmos website.

Betatrons, which serve as the foundation of the medical complex under development, function as cyclic electron gas pedals. These are exclusively manufactured by Tomsk Polytechnic University.

The base, frames, and power panels necessary for the power supply of the future complex have already been produced by Reshetnev ISS specialists. Additionally, they have manufactured applicators, which are crucial components of the equipment that enable the irradiation to be focused in a manner that spares the organism's healthy cells. The TPU School of Engineering for Non-Destructive Testing and Safety will test the applicators. Following the tests, the elements will be reinstalled on the device located in Zheleznogorsk.

The pre-production model assembly of the medical equipment will commence in October. Plans are in place to mass-produce the equipment.
