Tomsk Polytechnic University

Course description

A unique master's program in the field of advanced energy conversion technologies providing training in the research laboratories that have no analogues in the country and are included in the register of unique scientific facilities of Russia.

Program features: combination of theoretical and practical training, flexible educational process, use of electronic resources and project-based approach.

Specialized laboratories and equipment are available for training, and close ties with business are established for internships. Courses are taught by qualified faculty with highest academic degrees and expertise solving real industry problems.

The Program students may perform their graduation thesis in the form of business start-ups producing multi-component fuel blends for individual consumption and small business, or providing local energy resources to remote communities.

What you will learn

  • Critically analyze problematic situations in energy facilities using a systems approach
  • Manage an innovative project in the field of clean energy conversion at all stages of its life cycle
  • Conduct scientific research, develop and implement innovations, create and test new fuels
  • Operate power plants that ensure environmentally friendly, efficient and competitive development of the energy sector
  • Design individual components of energy conversion systems
  • Model physical processes in energy conversion systems

Science Projects

The students of the Master's Program on Green Energy Conversion Technologies take part in various scientific projects.

The first area is modern technologies of fuel suspension utilization, new suspension fuels, and forecasting of ecological indicators.

The second direction is environmentally friendly multicomponent blends on the basis of low-grade fuels, industrial and municipal solid waste.

The third direction is thermochemical aspects of conversion processes of organic fuels, industrial and municipal solid wastes.

The fourth direction is gas turbine technologies of utilization of solid fuel conversion products.

The fifth direction is phase transitions of conversion products.

The sixth direction is technologies of deep processing of coal and industrial waste to obtain products with high added value: methane, hydrogen, liquid fuels of various fractions.
